List of Steven's must-have utilities:
Here are some links to some of my favorite utilities:
- AdAware is a very useful utility
to search your system for spyware or malware.
- DSL Reports is a good
place to find info for setting up your broadband connection. Very good forums,
also. My network
setup as listed on DSLReports.com.
- DShield.org is an attempt to collect
data about cracker and virus activity from all over the internet. Check here
to see if your router is
supported with prewritten clients.
- Mozilla FireFox is
a great replacement browser for OS/2, Windows, Linux and MacOS. This is just a
wonderful (IMHO) browser, without the overhead of tying into other
applications. You can add additional "extensions" into FireFox, which allows
you to only use what you want to use. More information on the extensions is
available here.
- HiJackThis is a great utility to
examine certain key areas of the Registry and HD, and it lists their contents.
Very useful to find information about BHO (Browser Hijack Objects,) spyware,
adware and malware.
- MailWasher is available to help cut down on
spam emails. Check your email, view or delete/bounce the spam on the server,
before downloading the messages. New!
PopTray 3.0.2 is now available for
checking your email on the mail server. PopTray allows you to view, or delete email
on the server, and you can add the sender to your WhiteList or BlackList.
- Markus Jansson has an excellent website for his
Privacy and Security Page. Lots of great links for securing your PC's.
- Spam-me-not is a
simple anti-spam email link obfuscator for your webpages. Easy to use. I use it
for my webpages. Note:I now have a local of this great little utility. It is located
at my No-Spam directory
for your use.
- My Privacy & Security Page
at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has some great info and utilities
for Windows PC privacy and security.

Good for tracking down spyware on your Windows PC. Use this utility with AdAware and your
anti-virus to keep your system clean.
